My summer’s long, my summer’s short, my summer’s gone

This Tuesday morning finds us with the sudden realization that the inaugural tour of Old American Junk has nearly reached its finale. In what has been nothing less than a whirlwind of travels and jams, we have reached the last few days of our Summer Delights Tour. With 11 full band shows and 14 Acoustic shows since June 27th, we feel both exhilirated and a bit exhausted. However, we are feeling immensely inspired for our last run in the next 5 days. Beginning this evening (Tuesday, August 14th) with an acoustic trio set at Clearwater Harbor, we promise to bring our very best music and entertainment to close out this summer. The full band will also be at the Harbor this Friday, August 17th and then down to Zweifelpalooza outside of Madison to close out the best party in southwest Wisconsin on Saturday.

We are already in discussions about the next tour, and we are grateful for the support from everyone this summer. Hope to see you out at some point this week. Until then, savor the goodness.

Summer Delights Tour Begins

Happy summer to all. With the solstice already behind us, its time to make the most of June, July and August. The band just spent 3 splendid days in our rehearsal confines in Madison…which is also quickly turning into an urban-based hobby farm. Besides some quality music for you, we also have a good line on some of the finest eggs in the state of Wisconsin. Talk to us at any of our shows to learn more.

But more seriously, we wanted to let you know that the shows begin this week. We thought we’d take this time today to let you know that there will be a “warm-up” set at Deja Vu Martini Lounge in Appleton, Wisconsin on Monday, June 25th. OAJ goes on stage at 9:30 p.m. Amongst other antics, the band will be playing “HOME” in its entirety. For those of you who would like to make Tuesday morning at work a bit groggier, please come and join us. We will have CDs and Vinyl available at a special live show price.

Following Monday night, OAJ will be playing their official debut show in Wausau at Malarkey’s Pub. After 15 years in the making, this is a really exciting week for all of us. We can’t wait to share our music with you!! See you soon.

Debut Album ‘Home’ Available Now

We are proud to announce the release of our debut album, HOME, available on CD, Vinyl and digital download!

In April of 2006 we went into the studio to begin recording some songs.  Three of us had been playing a weekly jam session at some “juke joints” (yeah, right) in  Wisconsin.  It was Thursday nights at Simpson’s in Waupaca and Sunday nights at the infamous Cranky Pat’s in Neenah.  We decided to put some of our new songs down and envisioned making the first Old American Junk album. Then things fell apart…

Three years later we found ourselves in Europe.  First it was two of us in Ireland, and then two of us in Germany.  That’s when we decided to continue with the project.  We had a bunch of new songs and a bit of a vision.  We scrapped all the old sessions. They didn’t make the cut.

In December of 2009 we started the new session. We spent four days holed up in the basement and hashed it out. Then we went into the studio and put down our efforts.  And then we did it again, in April, June and July.  And then again in December, and in the summer of 2011. Plus the mixing and mastering sessions.

It has been a heckuva time!  Highs and lows that are exhausting to think about.  Learning curves far beyond our expectations.  But, we think we got it.   We’re happy with what we have…and we are our toughest critics.  This is us, Old American Junk.  This is our first album. We call it “Home.”  We are proud of it and we hope you enjoy it .You can get it right here.  Go to our “Store” page and purchase a physical copy directly from us.  There’s also options to stream and download.

We’ve had wonderful support along the way and want to thank all of those close to us for it.  We’re hoping to play very soon in support of the album.  We love playing live, where we can bring the songs to life and to jam some merry music with you all.  Keep an eye out on the tour page here at oldamerianjunk.com for updates.  Shoot us a message and let us know your thoughts on the album. If you like it, pass it on to a friend, please.  Hope to see you soon.
